Western Exploration Inc.’s CEO, Darcy Marud, recently highlighted a significant breakthrough at their Aura Project located in northeastern Nevada during the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2024 convention. The Aura Project, engaged in drill activity and exploration since 1997, gained a spotlight with its announcement of a new “very significant high-grade discovery” that promises to redefine the project’s potential. This discovery, coming after the company went public in 2022, marked a pivotal moment in Western Exploration’s strategy to push the project forward.
The company has unearthed remarkable findings in the recent drilling efforts, uncovering gold at an impressive concentration of 257 grams per tonne (g/t) and nearly 3 kilograms of silver per tonne. These results, described by Marud as “very significant,” have not only proved the existence of high-grade resources adjacent to known deposits but also hinted at the potential expansion of the size of these resources.
Ever since going public, Western Exploration has been laser-focused on drilling, subscribing to the belief that a project’s long-term value is fundamentally anchored in rigorous exploration. This principle has led the team, comprised primarily of seasoned geologists, into a relentless pursuit to uncover gold deposits, leveraging their extensive expertise from grassroots discoveries to advanced project developments.
The Aura Project covers three primary sites across Nevada: Doby George, Gravel Creek, and Wood Gulch, with Doby George alone featuring 827 drill holes. This extensive exploration effort has been motivated by a broader optimism within the industry regarding the prospects of gold, with several experts predicting a bullish future for the precious metal.
To further capitalize on these positive indicators, Western Exploration aims to intensify its drilling endeavors by late June this year, targeting the integration of the new discovery with existing resources. Marud’s strategy reflects a grounded approach, focusing primarily on exploration rather than rushing towards construction or production milestones.
Strategically situated in Nevada, the leading gold-producing state in the U.S., and fully owned by Western Exploration, the Aura Project stands at the forefront of the company’s ambitions. Supported by a mix of strategic investors, management, and other institutions, Western Exploration is navigating this exciting phase with a clear vision augmented by the recent high-grade discoveries, emboldening its mission to lead Nevada’s gold exploration efforts into a new epoch.
